The island that are formed as the region of Madeira area volcanic Islands, with tropical temperatures. Due to to this factor the landscape here is absolutely beautiful with nature rich in flora and fauna. It´s forests are part of World Heritage declared so by UNESCO. Madeira and the region are a chain of islands where the climate is subtropical and has permitted the proliferation of abundant animal species. The natural reserve of Islas Salvajes, and Madeira Natural Park are just some of the main natural treasures in this small archipelago known as the Pearl of the Atlantic.
It´s abundant vegetation, flora and fauna have awoken a great interest to the ecosystem lovers, whether it be by land with it´s hundreds of different plant species or by the sea with incredible marine depths filled with life. There are also incredible marine bird colonies and terrestrial ones as well.
The love of nature in Madeira has caused this region during the Springtime to celebrate the Floralias, a festivity in honor of the flowers that bloom in this season. As to what birds are concerned, during the year there are other species that reside, as well a migrating species that amount to about 250 different kinds that you can see here throughout the year. Lizards are also part of the fauna in Madeira.
The ocean with it´s clean and crystal clear waters will allow you to enjoy watching dolphins, whales, tropical whales and even migrating ones. In the Islas Salvajes you can also find seals in the Natural Reserve, declared world heritage by UNESCO. |
